Races, Peoples, Tribes, Nations

  • Dwarves – there are three well-known peoples of the race called Dwarf – the Aesir of the North ( vikings ); the mountain folk: Isreali/Swiss-like militantly isolationists; and their outpost kin, the only Dwarves most people have ever seen – trade-merchants, sole bankers, famous tinkers, gold and weapon-smiths – allowed to live in enclaves in human lands. From these people ( analogous to medieval Jews) come most stereotypes of the Dwarves.
  • Halflings – originally an insult, now used as their nickname, they are also known as Gypsies.
The halfling people are exactly that – having no known homeland, a tradition of wandering, a secretiveness that compounds rumors of their supposed dishonesty; but the travel routes and connections, and reputations as tinkers and entertainers to be nonetheless welcome visitors in most settlements.
